Database of Available Egg Donors at the Center for Assisted Reproduction

The Center for Assisted Reproduction attempts to simplify the egg donor selection process by offering recipients an initial overview of potential egg donors. When you have narrowed down your selection to a few egg donors, our coordinators can provide you with additional information to help you make your final choice.

Often, prospective parents want their chosen egg donor to have similar physical characteristics to their own. These characteristics may include ethnic background, height, build, and hair and eye color. Our fertility clinic can often provide you with baby or childhood pictures of egg donors. In an effort to maintain anonymity of egg donors, adult pictures are unavailable.

Many recipients also examine the educational background and hobbies maintained by egg donors. Though these factors will not necessarily impact the personality of the child, recipients are often pleased to know that the donor has similar goals and priorities to their own.

Each of the egg donors listed in our database has completed a questionnaire that addresses her personal and medical history. Past surgeries, pregnancies, and other medical procedures are disclosed, as is any family history of hereditary diseases. We also ask our egg donors to disclose their usage of alcohol, tobacco, and any other social habits.

To assess any concern that a hereditary disease or condition may be present in a potential egg donor, a genetics counselor is consulted. Caucasian donors are routinely screened for cystic fibrosis, and African American donors for sickle cell anemia. If the recipients wish to request additional screening of an egg donor, these tests can be completed for an additional cost.

Because the selection of egg donors in our database is constantly changing, it may be helpful for you to choose more than one potential donor. Once you have selected your potential egg donors, we can provide you with more in-depth profiles as well as any additional information that you may have requested.

If you have questions about the egg donor database or would like to schedule a consultation with one of our doctors, contact the Center for Assisted Reproduction and we will be glad to assist you.
